Tips On Getting Married in Hawaii: Getting a Hawaii Marriage License
If you’re getting married in Hawaii you need to know a few things to make things move smoothly. There will be a few posts on the subject, but, the first deals with how to get a marriage license from Hawaii. If you’re getting married in Hawaii you must get a marriage license from the State of Hawaii. Here is some basic information you’ll need to know to get your Hawaii marriage license:
- No blood test is required
- Bride and Groom must be present to obtain the marriage license
- Bring your driver’s license or other valid I.D.
- The marriage license costs $60 (cash only)
- Traffic and parking can be (and usually is) an issue so get their with enough time

It took us 30 minutes total (filling out the application, running across the street to an ATM, getting the license), but, you should be aware of holidays and furloughs. In Honolulu, the business hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and the address is Room 101 (1st floor) of the Health Department Building, 1250 Punchbowl St. You can get information and phone numbers of other offices on neighboring islands by visiting Hawaii’s State Department of Health site.
